چکیده
Abstract The purpose of this study was to increase the limited wear resistance polymers in highly stressed tribological contacts. Therefore, diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings were firstly developed and deposited on polymers. development low temperature coating process conducted an industrial scale unit. Due use polyether ether ketone (PEEK) polyamide as substrate material, tailored accordance with different mechanical properties Furthermore, analyses regarding morphology, roughness well compound adhesion between conducted. accomplished for reciprocating sliding kinematics pin-on-plate tribometer under dry conditions boundary lubricated conditions. results prove ability undergo high plastic deformations without delamination. In addition, possible formation a composite layer DLC PEEK track due energy input shown. transformations sp 2 chain into ring bindings change size distribution clusters during contact observed.

Tribological behaviors of several polymer–polymer sliding combinations under dry friction and oil-lubricated conditions
The friction and wear properties of polyamide 66 (PA66), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sliding against hemselves under dry sliding and oil-lubricated conditions were studied by using a pin-on-disc tribometer. The effect of applied load and sliding peed on tribological behaviors of the polymer–polymer sliding combinations under dry sliding and oil-lubricated cond...
متن کاملOnset of frictional sliding of rubber–glass contact under dry and lubricated conditions
Rubber friction is critical in many applications ranging from automotive tyres to cylinder seals. The process where a static rubber sample transitions to frictional sliding is particularly poorly understood. The experimental and simulation results in this paper show a completely different detachment process from the static situation to sliding motion under dry and lubricated conditions. The res...
متن کاملInfluence of roughness on contact interface in fretting under dry and boundary lubricated sliding regimes
This paper presents experimental results of wear process under dry and boundary lubricated metallic (AISI 1034/AISI 52100) contacting bodies with different surfaces morphologies subjected to a wide range of kinematic fretting conditions. Analysis of damage mode observed under such fretting conditions is elucidated in context of surfaces morphologies therefore associated with surface manufacturi...
متن کاملFriction models for sliding dry, boundary and mixed lubricated contacts
Friction, lubrication, and wear have a strong influence on the performance and behavior of mechanical systems. This paper deals with different friction models for sliding contacts running under different conditions. The models presented are suited to different situations, depending on the type of contact, running conditions, and the behavior of interest. The models will be discussed from simula...
متن کاملPotential of improving tribological performance of UHMWPE by engineering the Ti6Al4V counterfaces
Recently, some novel surface engineering techniques have been developed, which may be used for extending lifetime of artificial joints; however, the full potential will not be realised until the tribological behaviour of surface engineered bio-medical materials has been fully characterised. In the present investigation, a pin-on-disc tribometer has been used to evaluate the tribological respons...
